Synopsis
In the low cut, push up, silicon world where society celebrates the womanly figure in every facet of media, nothing is more as coveted than the female breasts. This is especially true in the United States, where sex sells above anything else, in a place where the breast reigns supreme, has some of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world.
How did this happen? Even with information and education at our fingertips, still only 30% of women breastfeed their infants for at least six months. It seems there are two sides to every story…
From Nurse-ins to cross-nursing the Breast Side Story is an exploration into the ongoing battle between the bottle and the breast; who benefits, who suffers, and unfolding the hidden truths that force us to intimately deal with our sexuality and ultimately the control over our maternal bodies.
According to the May 2007 issue of Parenting Magazine, by 2007, 36 states have laws that specifically allow women to breast feed in any public or private location, while nearly all states (47 of them) have enacted some legislation to protect a woman’s right to nurse her baby. For some reason many people find nursing in public a bigger problem than a Jay-Z video! All this is happening as the resurgence of breastfeeding takes America by storm.
